EMOTIONAL MARKETING
Have you noticed that most of the good adverts you see on TV are emotional? They want you to think that your joy (one of the emotions humans love to feel most) is dependent on their product. Have you observed that books on love – novels or self help – sell a lot?
I once went through a magazine and saw an advert by Rolls Royce. In that advert, they said something like – I can’t really remember the exact words but I will rephrase – “…there are very few of our cars around the world. It is not for every body.” When I read it, anger welled up in me. Immediately I said “what do they mean it’s ‘not for everybody,’ I am going to buy one someday.”
I said it with the kind of determination and vehemence that got some heat and energy surging through my veins.
My friend Onaivi Dania, a professional compere and motivational speaker was there. He smiled and said “you know what Kingsley? That is the way they wanted you to feel and the purpose of that advert is achieved. They just got one more customer who will order for the car in the near future.” Then I felt so stupid.
Let me show you yet another example. One day, I saw a bill board and these words seemed to be jumping out at me: Your Wife’s Secret Affair. Though I am not married, I almost felt funny! When I stopped to look very well, it was IGNIS advertising a cooker or a freezer.
Anyway, it is certain, you can quickly get people's attention through their emotions. And people mostly buy based on emotions: hatred, jealousy, joy, etc.
So friend, include an element of emotions in your next marketing activities.
Cheers!!!
Why Projects Fail
From research and statistics, 3 things are responsible for failure of projects.
1. Poorly trained Project Managers
2. Poorly managed scope creep
3. Miscommunication.
Microsoft Project training solves 2 and 3 above and 1 gets naturally taken care of as the manager masters 2 and 3.

How to Develop, Keep & Use an Idea Book
An ideas book is very important. It could be a notebook, a writing pad or a diary. Write the word IDEAS at the front of the book and make it look beautiful and attractive. If you like, post nice photographs on the first 1 or 2 pages. This is important if you want to easily be attracted to it. The more attracted you are to it, the more eager you will be to write on it and the more ideas will come to you as you begin to apply your mind to reasoning out things in the area(s) you are interested in.
I am interested in many areas. So I divided my own ideas and dream book into several parts. You can do the same if you choose to.
Always write a new idea on a fresh page.
Always consult the book. Make notes on each idea frequently. Notes should be in headings such as 'when to start pursuing idea,' 'who to meet for assistance,' 'what I need to start,' 'my recent findings,’ etc. Organize the note very well so it doesn’t look clumsy.
Needless to say, your ideas book should not be seen on the floor, in the kitchen or anywhere you are not supposed to keep nice things. It is precious!
